How To Revoke Bank Access From An App
Learn how CDR consent withdrawal works in Australia and how to think about removing a finance app's bank data access.
If you have connected a finance app through the Consumer Data Right, you can withdraw consent.
The CDR website says providers must explain how you can manage and withdraw consents. The OAIC states that consent can be withdrawn at any time, and that a data holder must action a withdrawal as soon as possible (within two business days at the most).
Start with the app
Open the finance app and look for its bank connection, data sharing, privacy, or CDR consent settings. The app should explain what data has been authorised and how to withdraw access where supported.
For Cove Money, the CDR Policy says you may withdraw consent through Cove Money where supported, through your bank's CDR dashboard, or by contacting Cove Money.
Check your bank's CDR dashboard
Your bank may provide a CDR dashboard that shows active data sharing arrangements. If the consent appears there, follow the bank's process to stop sharing.
Contact the provider if needed
If you cannot find the right control, contact the provider and ask how to withdraw CDR consent and request deletion or correction of CDR Data where applicable.
Cove Money's CDR Policy says deletion or correction requests can be sent to [email protected] and that Cove Money will work with Fiskil where needed to action requests under the CDR Rules.
What happens after consent is withdrawn
If you withdraw consent, new CDR Data collection under that consent should stop. Some app features may stop working or become less complete because the service no longer has access to that data.
Keep a record of the date you withdrew consent and any confirmation emails or dashboard messages you receive.
